Booking is now open for Rome & the Rivieras, operating in June 2013
The tour begins in incredible Rome, the so-called Eternal City, where we will see the greatest sights of Ancient Rome (including the Colosseum & Forum) & the Vatican (including the Sistine Chapel & St. Peter’s). We’ll also enjoy the Baroque sights of Rome as we visit the Trevi Fountain & Piazza Navona on our popular evening stroll.
From Rome we travel north into Tuscany for a two-night stop in Florence, the capital of the Renaissance. Florence is a beautiful city, much smaller than Rome, & a joy to wander as we walk the same streets as Michelangelo, shop in the markets, & soak in the atmosphere. Just an hour away from Florence is Pisa with it’s iconic leaning tower, which we will visit & even have the opportunity to climb!
From Florence & Pisa we begin our journey along the Mediterranean coastline of Italy & France, beginning with the villages of the Cinque Terre – five incredibly scenic villages perched along the Tuscan shore & linked together by train, boat & footpath.
Sandwiched between Italy & France is the European micro-state of Monaco, an independent nation just a few square miles in size! We will stop to visit Monaco, seeing the Royal Palace & Cathedral as well as some of the streets used for the legendary Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Our final stay will be in the French resort of Nice, a popular destination for vacationers & artists for over a century. With three nights in Nice there will be plenty of time for us to sightsee together, including visiting the picturesque village of St. Paul de Vence, as well as for you to explore in the Old Town or perhaps sunbathe on Nice’s famous pebble beach.
Designed in collaboration with Dunbar Middle School teacher Keith Bennett, Rome & the Rivieras is a family tour open to all families, not just the Dunbar community.
